CARE TEAMS
Offering individualized support and assistance for everyday living.

CARE TEAM MEMBERS ARE CHRISTIAN FRIENDS HELPING AN INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY WITH SIGNIFICANT HEALTH OR PHYSICAL PROBLEMS WITH PRACTICAL TASKS, SUCH AS TRANSPORTATION, MEALS, HOUSEHOLD OR YARD CHORES, ERRANDS, VISITS, EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS.

Each need for a Care Team is different, and Care Teams tailor their activities to a specific situation. Some Care Teams serve a short time while others may serve a number of years. Care teams do not provide medical care, mental health care information, nor do they provide money.

Care Teams, part of Shandon Health & Welfare Ministry, are composed of Shandon members who are organized, trained, and work together to provide needed assistance. Each Care Team member completes a required three-hour training session, which teaches what care teams do, what they don't do, how to set boundaries etc. Care Teams meet once a month for 59 minutes. Members sign-up for the tasks they are able to contribute during the coming month, discuss any issues or problems and evaluate the effectiveness of the previous month's activities.

Confidentiality is a hallmark of the Care Team Ministry. Care Teams may not be able to meet all the needs, but will meet the most important needs.

The Care Team program is sponsored by national Interfaith CarePartners, and Care Team members attend training.

If you or someone you know needs assistance or if you'd to be part of a Care Team, contact Rev. Carly Wicklund at 256-8383, ext. 102 or cwicklund@shandon-umc.org or Karen Daves at kdaves@shandon-umc.org.
