DISCOVER GOD AND EXPERIENCE HIS LOVE
Explore, grow and be nurtured in Christian faith.
Shandon places a strong emphasis on fostering Christian faith in children. Children are always welcome and are encouraged to worship with their families at all of our worship services. During the traditional services, a children’s bulletin and crayons are available, and children are invited upfront for an age-appropriate children’s sermon.

Nurseries open on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and are staffed with trained, paid workers and parent volunteers. The rooms are large and inviting, and equipped with age appropriate toys and furnishings. Introducing children to the wonderful world of expressing their faith through music.
Shandon has three age-level children’s choirs that sing at various services and special events. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings and Orff instruments (tone bar instruments) and choir chimes are part of the choirs curriculums.
Cherub Choir: 4- and 5-year-olds: Rehearsals 6:00-6:30 p.m.
St. Cecelia Choir: Grades 1-2: Rehearsals 6:00-6:45 p.m.

Each year the Confirmation experience provides opportunities for 6th graders to grow in faith and recognize God in their lives.
Through a variety of learning activities and the guidance of caring mentors, clergy, and staff, they explore Christian and Methodist beliefs and prepare to become full members of the church. Following the example of Jesus, they also spend time building friendships and enjoy feelings of being accepted.
Confirmation begins with UM6F (United Methodist 6th Grade Fellowship).
They pack in games, team building, a field trip/service day, and other fun activities. UM6F is a great way to grow the Confirmation Class together, prior to the regular Confirmation classes.
Shandon fully embraces the responsibility and joy of nurturing children on their faith journeys, and each year our children participate in and help lead the Sunday morning worship services during Children’s Sunday. A Bible is presented to 3-year-olds on this Sunday.
THIRD GRADE BIBLES
Each year in the fall, Shandon presents a gift Bible to each child in the 3rd grade class to help them discover and get to know the Bible and encourage regular Bible study. The 3rd grade Sunday school teachers guide and train these students throughout the year in lessons on how to use their Bibles.
