Maintaining Shandon today and for future generations.
WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION?
The Shandon United Methodist Church Foundation, established in 1994, is a non-profit, charitable, religious, tax-exempt entity, which receives and invests contributions as an endowment to benefit Shandon United Methodist Church.
WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION’S PURPOSE?
The Shandon Foundation was created to administer an endowment, which would receive gifts of money or property. Gifts may be received as current payments or may be deferred until some future date or event.
Undesignated funds contributed to the Foundation generally are invested and not spent. However, the income and a portion of the capital gains of the Foundation are made available for church missions and capital improvement and repairs to our church properties. The expenditures recommendations are received by and approved by the Church Board of Trustees.
The Foundation is currently governed by an eight-member Board of Trustees duly elected in the same manner as other church officers. Copies of the Foundation’s governing instruments are available for review upon request.
WHY SHOULD I GIVE TO THE FOUNDATION?
We give because we love God and the Church. Shandon has beautiful and spacious facilities, which are architecturally and aesthetically significant. The Foundation funds support church missions and our church facilities requiring our committed stewardship in the form of preventative maintenance and repair.
Gifts to the Foundation will serve the needs and ministries of the church during our lifetime, as well as future generations of Shandon Methodists.
